Manufacturing Spotlight: Stephanie Haverstick
October is Manufacturing Month, showcasing modern manufacturing careers by encouraging companies to open their doors to students, parents, teachers, and community leaders. So, what better time to get to know our Supply Chain colleagues? We chatted with our site leaders to hear the ins and outs of their careers at NBCo. and what gets them fired up!
First up is Stephanie Haverstick, Vice President and Operating Officer, Plant Management for our Canada locations. Stephanie, who has been with our Canadian operations for 29 years, recently shared a little about herself and her team.
Q: Why did you pursue a career in manufacturing?
A: I didn’t originally plan on pursuing a career in Manufacturing. I completed a degree in microbiology and actually began my career in the Quality Control Laboratory, quickly advancing through progressive roles in Quality Assurance. I found that I have a natural affinity for process design and development, and am effective in managing challenging situations. Operations Management is fast-paced and presents constant challenges and opportunities to drive positive change. These are attributes that attract me to this sector and keep me motivated and engaged.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about working at NBCo.?
A: The people — at all levels and areas of the organization. We have a fabulous team and I am thankful to be a part of it.
Q: What is something that might surprise people about your job?
A: No two days are ever the same and there is rarely a lull in activity, but I get really excited when I’m able to dig deep into an issue and help find an effective solution.
Q: What’s the first thing you do when you get to work and the last thing you do before you go home?
A: The first thing I do is grab my extra-large coffee, sign into my laptop and start reading email. At the end of the day, I check to ensure I’ve dealt with any outstanding commitments for the day and make a quick mental note of my action plan for the next day.
Q: What’s the best thing about your colleagues?
A: We have a very talented team of people and they have so many fabulous qualities. The one that comes first to mind is their resilience and ability to quickly and seamlessly pivot to the changing priorities of the business.
