Mark Gelbert is Chief Scientific Officer of The Bountiful Company, a role he has held since October 2017. In this role, he is responsible for leading the Company’s research, development and innovation efforts across all of its global brands.
Mark is a skilled executive leader with more than 30 years of experience in consumer healthcare innovation and brand development. He has an inherent ability to partner with Marketing, Business Development and Product Supply on growth strategies, and has a deep expertise in Product Development, Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research in the consumer healthcare setting. He has led the development and implementation of tools and techniques to help organizations evolve their innovation efforts and has been responsible for the launch of hundreds of new consumer drugs, dietary supplements and personal care products globally.
Mark was most recently Senior Vice President of Global R&D for Pfizer’s $3+ billion Consumer Healthcare division and a member of its Global Leadership Team. Before joining Pfizer, Mark held R&D leadership roles for Johnson & Johnson, Schering-Plough Healthcare, and Novartis Consumer Healthcare. Mark began his career in Product Development at Procter & Gamble.
Mark has held leadership positions in a number of professional organizations, including the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, where he was Chair of the Scientific Affairs Committee and a member of the Board of Directors. Mark currently serves on the Rutgers University Chemistry and Chemical Biology Advisory Board.
Mark has his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Rutgers College, and a Master of Science and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He also has his Law Degree from Salmon Chase College of Law and is admitted to the Ohio State Bar.
